Building a robot may sound like it may only be of interest for certain types of individuals with specific technical and programming abilities, however, experience leads us to believe that real success comes from students with a wide variety of talents and a broad base of interests working together toward achieving a particular goal.

Please note that tryouts are only open to high school students (rising 9th-12th graders)

For the design challenge, all you need is your creativity and cooperation!
The game manual test will require you to just review the link given below. No video will be created for it.

Design Challenge & Game Manual Day: August 10th, 2021 @ 1:30pm - 4pm (IN PERSON @ SBHS Room #: C102)

Game Manual Test (1hr)
Design Challenge (2hr)

Notebook Test: August 11th, 2021 @ 1pm - 2pm (VIRTUAL)
Programming Test: August 12th, 2021 @ 1pm - 3pm (VIRTUAL)

Regarding Prior Experience
While familiarity will help you, we are not assuming any prior experience. Our tryouts process will be starting off with workshops run by experienced club members to help you pick up the basics and understand what we do here before moving on to the "tryouts" portion. Due to the number of applicants, we are unable to offer everyone a spot on competitive teams this year. The purpose of the tryouts process is to help you learn some things about robotics, and

If due to extenuating circumstances you are unable to make one of the dates listed below, please reach out to sbhsrobotics750@gmail.com and we will do our best to work something out. If you are unable to miss more than 2 or all of the dates due to sports/other commitments, we are unfortunately unable to

VRC is a student-centered program
Per the rules and spirit of the VEX Robotics Competition, we expect you as a student to take initiative and assume responsibility, as well as to pass along information to your parents/guardians. Attention to detail, asking questions, and effective communication are universally useful practices that are important to us, and will serve you well in your career.

We want to work with you and be as accommodating as possible while still being fair to everyone - but we can only do that if you communicate with us in a timely manner.
